Bespoke Kitchens in Tunbridge Wells
Bespoke, beautifully made kitchens for Royal Tunbridge Wells, Pembury, Southborough, Frant and the surrounding villages.
Designing kitchens for Tunbridge Wells homes
Tunbridge Wells is one of our most design-intensive locations. The town's character — Georgian and Regency around the Pantiles and the Common, high-Victorian along Mount Sion and Mount Ephraim, substantial Edwardian family homes in Warwick Park and Bishop's Down, newer detached houses toward North Farm — means no two projects share the same constraints. We design each kitchen from a blank sheet: cabinet sizes, layout, materials and hardware all chosen for the specific house.
Every project runs out of our Lingfield showroom, 25 minutes away along the A264. You'll work with the same designer from survey through to final handover, and because our installers are our own team rather than subcontractors, the finish on the parts that actually show — scribed plinths, mitred worktop returns, reveals around tall appliances — stays consistent from one job to the next.
What we see in Tunbridge Wells
The Pantiles area and the streets around the Common sit inside a substantial conservation area, with a mix of listed and unlisted Georgian townhouses. Kitchens here nearly always want a hand-painted in-frame scheme — sometimes with a freestanding element like a dresser or butcher's block — paired with a stone or honed-marble worktop. The rooms are often narrower and lower-ceilinged than their square footage suggests, so design care around proportion and lighting really shows in the finished result.
Out toward Warwick Park, Bishop's Down and the newer parts of Pembury and Southborough, the brief shifts. Here we're more often designing large open-plan kitchen / dining / family rooms with a central island, full-height larder bank, hidden utility or pantry, and integrated Neff, Siemens or Miele packages. The surrounding villages — Frant, Speldhurst, Bidborough, Rusthall — have their own mix, but both styles (traditional and contemporary) share the same underlying cabinet engineering; the finish just changes.

Frequently asked questions — kitchens in Tunbridge Wells
- Which parts of Tunbridge Wells do you cover?
- All of it — central Tunbridge Wells, the Pantiles, Southborough, Pembury, Rusthall, and the surrounding villages of Frant, Speldhurst, Bidborough and Langton Green. Surveys across this whole area are free.
- We're in a listed Georgian property near the Pantiles — can you still fit a bespoke kitchen?
- Yes. We design regularly for listed properties in and around the Pantiles. Our approach is to work with the room rather than against it — cabinet depths and heights are adjusted to period proportions, we use reversible fixing methods where possible, and we coordinate with your conservation officer before anything is manufactured. The result is a working, modern kitchen that doesn't fight the building.
- What styles work best in Tunbridge Wells properties?
- Two broad answers. For the period houses around the Pantiles, the Common and Mount Sion, hand-painted in-frame Shaker or traditional cabinetry in a muted palette works beautifully and holds resale value. For the larger detached homes in Warwick Park, Bishop's Down and the newer Pembury / North Farm areas, contemporary handleless schemes with large islands and full-height larders are the more common choice.
- What does a full kitchen project usually cost in Tunbridge Wells?
- Most of our Tunbridge Wells projects sit between £35,000 and £100,000 including cabinetry, worktops, appliances, installation and VAT. Smaller cabinet-only replacements can be less; larger open-plan kitchen / family rooms with statement islands and premium stone usually sit higher. We provide a detailed written quote after the survey.
- Can we see a showroom kitchen before committing?
- Yes. Our Lingfield showroom has multiple full kitchens you can stand in, open drawers on, and test appliances in — a 25-minute drive from central Tunbridge Wells. We're happy to book in a visit with the designer who'll run your project, rather than just a sales appointment.
