Utility Room Design
The hardest-working room in the house
A utility room earns its space twice over when it's planned properly. We plan them properly.
The practical twin of the kitchen
A good utility room takes the laundry, the dog, the recycling, the ironing board and the overflow from the kitchen — and still looks like it belongs. We design utility rooms as the practical twin of the kitchen: same cabinetry, same finishes, same manufacturing partners, built to handle the rougher jobs.
Whether you've got a dedicated room, a walk-through from kitchen to garden, or a cupboard-under-the-stairs to convert, we'll draw up something that works for the way your household actually runs.
Appliance integration without the compromises
Washer, dryer, sink, second dishwasher, freezer, boiler cupboard — we plan around noise, vibration, ventilation and plumbing so you can shut the door and still hear yourself think in the kitchen.
Storage that earns its keep
Tall broom cupboards, pull-out laundry baskets, drying rails, recycling drawers, a proper Belfast sink for the dog or muddy boots. Everything has a place.
Built for hard use
Worktops that survive bleach and boot polish. Cabinet finishes that wipe clean. Soft-close everywhere, because a utility door gets slammed ten times a day.
What we design
Full utility rooms, boot-room / utility combinations, laundry cupboards, under-stairs utilities, appliance housings, walk-in pantries that double as overflow kitchen storage. Matched to your existing kitchen finishes or designed fresh.
Frequently asked questions — utility rooms
- Can you match my existing kitchen?
- If we installed the kitchen, yes — same cabinetry, same finish, same handles. If someone else installed it, we can usually get close enough that the two rooms read as related rather than identical.
- Do I need plumbing and electrical work?
- Most utility projects need both. We coordinate with our own approved trades so you're not managing three different contractors.
- How much space do I really need?
- Two metres of worktop plus an undercounter washer/dryer is a workable minimum. Five metres gets you a proper room with broom cupboards and a sink.
- Can you fit one into an awkward existing space?
- Yes — understairs, garage conversions, old pantries and walk-throughs are common briefs. Bespoke is almost always the answer when the room isn't a standard shape.
- What's a realistic budget?
- Utility rooms typically fall between £5,000 and £18,000 depending on size, appliance count and finish. We'll quote fixed after the design consultation.
